Buckeyes fans apparently never miss an opportunity to educate the uninitiated about the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry.

It was a Saturday in November 1940. I was 13 - and broke. I wanted to see a show Downtown at the RKO Palace, but that took money - and, in my Columbus neighborhood of Flytown, no one, not even your parents, just gave you money. You had to earn it.

At sports-happy Ohio State, not knowing the difference between a "first down" and an "end around" means carrying a heavy burden. That's why 45 students -- most from other countries -- sought this week to shed the shame.

It is time for installment No. 3 of knowing when you are a fan of this week's opposition to Ohio State.? This week, we turn our attention to the best rivalry in all of sports:? Ohio State vs. Michigan.

Tyler Sheehan had a record-setting day, throwing for 338 yards and two touchdowns, to lead Bowling Green to a 36-20 victory over Akron last night.

Three years ago this weekend, Michigan was one game from playing for the national championship.

Moments after Ohio State lost to Michigan 16-13 in 1990, freshman running back Butler By'not'e first learned what the rivalry really meant. "The talk was how well we played and how close we came, and then I remember (running backs coach) Bobby Turner just broke down crying in the locker room," By'not'e said. "I thought to myself, 'Man, if this can break a coach down, it's pretty serious.' "

It has been 90 years since Ohio State's first football win over Michigan, and that anniversary of sorts likely prompted the following little daydream:
